Erasmus+ Traineeship Experience: University of Lisbon, Portugal

The traineeship of Raşa HOSKOL, a student of the Department of Western Languages and Literatures, English Language and Literature Programme (student no. 220442605), conducted at the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies (ULICES), Portugal, from 15 July 2025 to 15 September 2025, has been approved by the Faculty Administrative Board.

As part of the Erasmus+ Traineeship Mobility Program, the Faculty requested the student to prepare a report in both English and Turkish, reflecting on her academic experience abroad, opportunities for collaboration, and cultural engagement. We sincerely thank Raşa HOSKOL for sharing her experiences and photographs from her Erasmus journey. The student’s insights are as follows:

Erasmus Traineeship at the University of Lisbon

My Erasmus traineeship at the University of Lisbon was hosted by ULICES (University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies) and was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore new academic possibilities and experience another culture first-hand. During my stay, I was introduced to innovative research examining how literature and storytelling can foster empathy and cross-cultural understanding, and I was fortunate to collaborate with members from different research teams. The experience was both transformative and inspiring, thanks to the wonderful people at ULICES and the critical, multidisciplinary work they pursue. Lisbon’s warmth, culture, and diversity made the experience truly unforgettable. This traineeship truly embodied the spirit of the Erasmus program—learning through collaboration, embracing diversity, and building lasting connections across borders.
